Cook lima beans according to package directions. Set aside. Cook bacon in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat until crisp.

Remove the bacon from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Reserve the bacon grease.

Add the yellow squash, red bell pepper and onion to the skillet with the reserved bacon grease. Sauté until the vegetables are crisp-tender. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds.

Add the beans and bacon to the pan, along with the butter. Sauté until the butter is melted, stirring frequently to coat the vegetables in the mixture.

Season the succotash with salt and pepper to taste.
