Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine the apples with the lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Transfer the apples to a 2.5 quart baking pan. Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the top of the apples.
Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix. Carefully stir the butter around to make sure all the cake mix is coated with the butter.
Bake for 50-60 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Allow the cobbler to sit for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve the cobbler hot with ice cream or whipped cream.
