One Bowl Chocolate Cake

Whether you've got unexpected company or just a craving for sweets, this simple one bowl chocolate cake can be whipped up in under thirty minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour*
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or a square 8 x 8 pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add oil, vinegar, vanilla, and water. Mix until ingredients are just combined.
  • Pour batter in to pan.
  • Bake 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

Notes

Do not use self-rising flour.
