I love a good fruity cocktail. You know the type I’m talking about. They go down easy and before you realize it, you’ve down three before you even know what hit you. This is one of those cocktails. It starts with homemade cherry infused vodka and topped off with pink lemonade and strawberry puree.

It starts with the vodka

The base for this lemonade cocktail is cherry flavored vodka. There are several brands of cherry flavored vodka available commercially. But if you have the time, check out my recipe for homemade cherry infused vodka. Actually making the cherry vodka isn’t time consuming, but you will need to give it a few days to infuse with the cherry flavor.

How to Make Cherry Berry Vodka Lemonade

Start by pouring two ounces of cherry vodka into an 8 ounce glass. I felt like two ounces of vodka gave just the right about of cherry flavor without causing the room to spin after just one drink. But, you may need to adjust the ratios to accommodate your preference.

Next, add 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice. I don’t recommend bottled here. Bottled lime juice has a metallic taste, in my opinion, which will affect the flavor of your drink. Also add three ounces of pink lemonade. Store bought lemonade is fine, but if you’d rather use fresh, check out my recipe for homemade pink lemonade.

Finally, I stirred in three ounces of strawberry puree. To make the puree, I simply whirred washed and hulled strawberries in my blender with a tablespoon or so of water until they were smooth. You could also use frozen strawberry daiquiri mix (but I would suggest leaving out the tequila.  That’s a whole ‘nother ballgame).

Give everything a quick stir to blend, then give it a quick taste. I like my lemonade on the tart side. If you like something sweeter, add a little sugar to your preference. Fill the glass the rest of the way up with ice cubes. Add a few sliced lemons or limes in the glass to make it look pretty.

This is a very refreshing summertime drink. Call me crazy, but I think it tastes even better when lounging by a pool.
